This policy explains what the Make First website (the "Site"), operated by Jamnaytac LLC d/b/a The Fractary, collects about you, what we do with it, and what we don't do. The short version: we collect very little, we don't track you for advertising, and we don't sell anything about you.
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Make First is a program for teens 13 to 17. Applicants under 18 apply with a parent or guardian, who is the account holder and the person we correspond with about the application and enrollment.
Information you submit. When you apply, ask a parent question, or contact us, we receive what you send: typically a parent or guardian's name and email, your teen's first name and age bracket, and your message. Applications and other messages arrive by email. Email you send to hello@fractary.com is handled by our email provider like any other email.
Server logs. The Site is hosted on AWS Amplify. Like most hosting providers, it keeps standard server logs that can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and timestamps. We use these only to keep the Site running and to diagnose problems.
Fonts. The Site loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches the font files, Google may receive your IP address and standard request headers. See Google's privacy policy for how it handles that data.
Embedded videos. Academy lessons embed curated YouTube videos using YouTube's privacy-enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. Nothing loads from YouTube or Google's video servers until you press play on a specific video; before that, only a static preview image from our own Site loads.
Links to other services. If you follow a link to a related Fractary product, our platform's GitHub repositories, or a linked video's page on YouTube, that site's privacy policy applies, not this one.
We don't run advertising trackers. We don't currently use analytics cookies or any analytics service. We don't set cookies for our own purposes. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers named above that need it to deliver the Site.
We use what you submit to respond to you and, for applications, to evaluate whether the founding cohort is a fit. We use server logs to operate and secure the Site. That's it.
We keep application submissions and email for as long as we need them to handle your request and keep a record of our correspondence, then delete them when they're no longer needed. Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider's default settings.
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information you've submitted by emailing hello@fractary.com. We'll act on the request within a reasonable time. You can also block third-party font loading in your browser without losing access to the Site's content.
We'll post any changes to this policy here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle information you've already given us, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know.
