Why it matters

Before you can build anything, you need a few accounts. Some of these you can create yourself right now: a Claude account, an AI app builder like Lovable or Bolt, a GitHub account. A few of them — anything that requires being 18 or older, including most payment and hosting accounts — need a parent or guardian to create and own them. That isn’t a formality. It’s the actual rule for those services, and it means your parent is on record as the account holder from day one.

The bigger skill in this lesson isn’t clicking “sign up” a bunch of times. It’s learning how to actually work with Claude. Claude is not a search engine that hands you a finished answer, and it’s not a machine that builds your business while you watch. It’s closer to a sharp, patient collaborator who asks good questions and pushes back when your thinking is fuzzy. The more specific and honest you are with it, the more useful it gets.

Your Founder Brief today is the first real test of that. You’re not asking Claude what business to start. You’re using a conversation with it to get clearer on what you already know about yourself, so that later, when you’re choosing a problem to solve, you’re choosing from evidence instead of a guess.

Start with Claude

Once your Claude account is set up, start a new conversation and paste the prompt below. Claude should interview you, not write your Founder Brief from a couple of one-line answers. If it tries to hand you a finished document before asking follow-up questions, tell it you want to be interviewed properly first.

I'm 13-17 and starting the Make First path. I need to build a Founder Brief: my skills, the communities I'm part of (school, hobbies, teams, online groups), problems I've personally paid money or time to solve, how many hours a week I can realistically give this, and roughly what budget I have.

Interview me one question at a time — don't move to the next question until my answer is specific, not just a one-word answer. Ask follow-up questions when I'm vague. Once you have enough, help me organize it into a Founder Brief, but keep my own words — don't invent details I didn't tell you.
